Inside the Go-To Event Venue in Nairobi: Our H1 2026 Recap

Six months ago, we set out with a simple goal. We wanted Blockchain Centre NBO to be more than just a venue you rent for a few hours. Our vision was to create a true home base—a place where the people building Kenya’s tech future feel comfortable, and a spot where the city can just hang out and unwind after hours.

Looking back at the first half of 2026, that’s exactly what happened. Here is a little look back at how the community filled our space over the last six months.

It started with a summit — February 2026

Our year didn’t exactly start quietly! It kicked off with the Cardano Africa Tech Summit 2026, which was easily one of the biggest Web3 moments on the continent this year.

We weren’t the venue for the main conference itself, but we were lucky enough to be in the room from the very beginning. As part of the organizing team, we got to help shape the event from the ground up. And when the summit was ready to introduce itself to the world, the official media launch happened right here at Blockchain Centre NBO.

For us, this is what the ecosystem is all about. It’s not just about unlocking doors. It’s about rolling up our sleeves and doing the work to build Kenya’s tech industry from the inside. It set an amazing tone for the rest of the year.

The tech communities that made us their home

Our absolute favorite part of running this space is watching local tech ambassadors, developer groups, and communities bring our rooms to life. Over the last six months, there was always something exciting happening here:

• The AI Wave: If you’ve been hanging out in Nairobi’s AI scene lately, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve walked through our doors. Cursor Kenya brought developers together for hands-on, AI-assisted coding meetups, while Claude Community Kenya turned our space into their regular hang-out spot. When the Kenya AI Challenge 2026 needed a place to run its workshops, they chose us—filling the room with brilliant minds working through real-world problems.
  
• Web3 & Infrastructure: Web3 doesn’t run without the teams building the underlying tech, and we loved hosting events for some incredible local chapters. The Avalanche Team1 Kenya crew brought the local chapter of one of Web3’s major networks into the room. Alongside them, the local ambassadors for Bitget Wallet and  ChainLink hosted some fantastic, packed sessions.
  
• Cardano & Midnight Ecosystems: The Cardano Hub Nairobi team kept our energy high with a steady run of great meetups and intense hackathons. Plus, we were incredibly proud to host the first-ever Midnight Network Community Meetup in Kenya.
  
• Design & Diversity: The Bitcoin Designers Meetup brought a totally unique vibe. They proved that tech events aren’t just for developers and traders, but also for the creatives shaping how we interact with crypto. We were also honored to host Dada Devs, whose incredible sessions championing women in tech brought immense talent, energy, and professionalism to our space.

Beyond tech: Where Nairobi came to unwind

Of course, life isn’t all about laptops, code, and debugging error messages!

Over the last six months, we also hosted plenty of corporate workshops, team reviews, and exciting product launches. But some of our absolute favorite memories came from our culture nights. We turned down the lights for watch parties, listening parties, comedy shows, and trivia competitions that got way more intense than anyone expected (the bragging rights are real).

These nights matter just as much to us as they are what turn a building into a community. Seeing someone attend a serious blockchain developer workshop on Tuesday is great. Seeing them come back to compete with friends over drinks and games on Friday? That is exactly why we do this. 

Looking ahead to Q3

The first half of 2026 showed us what happens when a space genuinely commits to its community. From helping organize massive summits to cheering on local tech ambassadors, from AI meetups to stand-up comedy nights, the goal has remained the same: Blockchain Centre NBO is where Nairobi’s tech and culture scenes actually live.

Our calendar for Q3 is already filling up, and we are planning to build on everything we started. Expect more communities, more workshops, and yes, definitely more fun nights.
