Running the Blockchain Centre Nairobi: A Human Perspective
Most people experience the space during big moments: a packed event, a buzzing meetup, a powerful keynote. What they don’t always see is the quieter, very human work that makes those moments possible.
Behind every light switched on, every chair arranged, and every conversation sparked, there’s a team keeping the Centre alive.
That’s where we come in.
As part of the team that helps run Blockchain Centre Nairobi, our role is simple to describe but complex to live: make the space feel welcoming, functional, and meaningful for everyone who walks through the door.
More Than Just a Space
The Blockchain Centre Nairobi isn’t just a venue. It’s a living community. Developers, founders, students, policymakers, artists, and the simply curious all cross paths here, each bringing something unique.
That sense of ownership became especially clear when the community came together to paint the mural on our wall. It wasn’t just decoration, it was a statement: This space belongs to all of us!
That same energy carried into our launch day, which saw a massive turnout. The rooms were full, conversations flowed, and the excitement was unmistakable. It was a powerful reminder that the Centre was something people had been waiting for.
The Work Behind the Scenes
On most days, our work happens quietly. Coordinating partners, managing schedules, confirming speakers, handling logistics and solving last-minute problems before anyone else notices.
Community building sounds glamorous, and sometimes it is. But more often, it’s spreadsheets, calendars, Slack and WhatsApp threads, and follow-ups. It’s making sure people feel supported – whether that’s through clear communication, a timely response, or simply good coffee at an early-morning session.
I’ve learned that trust is built in these details. When people feel seen and supported, community grows naturally.
Many Hats, One Mission
No two weeks look the same. One moment we’re preparing for a summit, the next we’re welcoming a first-time visitor curious about blockchain. It can be intense, but it’s deeply rewarding.
What grounds us is the mission: supporting Africa’s ecosystems as a community growth partner and events space where ideas evolve into real solutions. Watching curiosity turn into confidence, or seeing collaborations spark over casual conversations, makes the work worth it.
Looking Ahead
Impact doesn’t only happen on stage. Often, it happens quietly – in planning meetings, thoughtful emails, and consistent follow-through.
As Blockchain Centre Nairobi continues to grow, I hope that it remains a bridge: between ideas and action, global innovation and local ambition.
And if you ever stop by, you’ll probably find us somewhere in the background; setting up, troubleshooting, or sharing a laugh – doing the small things that make a big difference.
Visit. Join the conversation. Help us keep building this community together.
