Navigating Unhealthy Relationships: A lil recap
I just attended the powerful event “Navigating Unhealthy Relationships: Learn How to Spot, Heal, and Break Free” held at Blockchain Centre and hosted by Zoella. I’m still processing the wealth of knowledge shared. Overall, the afternoon, expertly emceed by ivix, felt like a necessary emotional reset for everyone in attendance.
Zoella, a Counseling Psychologist, moderated the session and skillfully wove together perspectives from a diverse and brilliant panel. The psychological and emotional depth came from Counseling Psychologists Brigitte Namachanja and Anthony Tabu. They provided crucial guidance on recognizing manipulation and setting firm, non-negotiable boundaries. Brigitte’s point that healthy love shouldn’t feel like constant anxiety resonated deeply.
For practical action, Relationship Coach Inayat Abbas Firdousi focused on the healing process. She emphasized that leaving an unhealthy dynamic is only the beginning. The real, lifelong work is in rebuilding self-trust and self-worth. Complementing this personal journey, Leticia Mwavishi from FIDA-Kenya provided vital context on policy and legal advocacy, highlighting the systemic support and rights available to those seeking toescape dangerous or toxic situations.
The event’s emotional impact was heightened by performances from artists Modest Chabari and Kidawa Tutu, who turned complex feelings into artistic expression.
My biggest takeaway was: Identifying an unhealthy pattern is not a failure, but the most courageous step toward honoring yourself. The conversation provided a roadmap—from psychological recognition and legal rights to the practical steps of self-recovery. Thank you to Zoella and the entire team for such a great session.
